Hospice of Huntington offers Camp Good Grief, an annual summer camp for children ages 8 to 16 who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Camp Good Grief provides children an opportunity to meet in a safe and accepting environment with other children who have experienced the loss of someone close.
Children are assigned a "Big Buddy" during their stay at camp. Big Buddies participate in daily activities and are available for individual support. The camp is one of learning, fun and enjoyment accomplished through the use of group discussions and activities. Professional staff provide information on grief so the campers can better understand and express their own feelings. Professional staff also provide follow-up contact for the children and their families following the camp. There is no charge to attend Camp Good Grief.
