The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House was built in 2006 and designed to be a home away from home when you or your loved one need care that cannot be provided at home for pain, symptom control or when the caregiver needs a short break from care giving.

The first thing you notice about the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House is the beautiful setting along the Ohio River and the colorful gardens. As you walk in the door you are struck by the quiet, the absence of loudspeakers or machine alarms beeping on and off. You soon realize that this is a very special inpatient setting.

When you arrive, your loved one is immediately settled in a private room with a registered nurse and hospice aide making sure that doctor’s orders are followed until your loved one is comfortable. Within the first hour family members often comment that there is a visible peace that surrounds their loved one.

We also cater to families with plenty of gathering spaces to visit, pray or find refreshments. Our professional staff is always available to answer your questions and to reassure you.

Children’s Playroom

We encourage children to visit family members who are staying at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. We have a special playroom for children so that they can take a break from their loved ones room and just be kids. There are computers to play games and a television so that they can watch their favorite program or video. There are also books and toys to help entertain. We ask that there be an adult to supervise children using the playroom.

Family Living Room

Comfortable couches flank a cozy fireplace where you can sit on chilly days. There is a game table where there is always a game of checkers or a jig saw puzzle available. When the weather permits, you can walk out of the living room on to a balcony overlooking the neighborhood and hospice gardens where you can rock in a wicker rocking chair for a moment of quiet reflection.

Our beautiful chapel has stained glass windows designed and made by Shobe Glass. The setting sun catches the outside window and casts a rainbow of colors throughout the chapel. Local volunteers have made cross-stitched angels or icons and a local artist has a heavenly painting over the altar. The chapel is always open for prayer and meditation.

Our patients are treated to our bubbling bath where they soak in a suds filled whirlpool tub while listening to soft, soothing music. Special lotions are applied and hair is washed and dried to make this a very relaxing experience.

Project Noah’s Ark-a pediatric program

We have a very special room, called Noah’s room for children who are cared for by hospice. Noah’s room is designed to be individualized in décor to make the room as welcoming as possible for our special guests. The room can be transformed from a nursery to a toddler’s room, to an adolescent’s room with special touches for your preferences. Our staff has been trained to meet the needs of children in these circumstances.
